You’ve been Nudj’d: How employee engagement is key to achieving Net Zero

We are seeing ever increasing numbers of companies setting Net Zero targets, achieving Net Zero requires ambitious change, collective action, and engagement from a wide range of stakeholders. One stakeholder group it is essential to engage is your employees, taking them on the journey and helping them to understand, engage and take personal action on delivering organisational sustainability goals.

The dynamic of the employee / employer relationship has evolved rapidly, and in a post pandemic world we are seeing increasing blurring of our home and work lives, as the demand for employees for greater flexibility increases. More than ever people want to work for businesses who are taking a proactive approach in managing the social and environmental impacts and are seeking a shared purpose with their employer- aligned with their personal values and the desire to work for purpose driven businesses. A report published by the National Gril (Building the Net Zero Workforce, January 2020) found that over 75% of respondent want to play a role in reaching the UK’s target to be Net Zero by 2050.

Climate change is the “biggest threat modern humans have ever faced”(UN press release, February2021) its an issue that companies and their employees alike are rightly concerned about and has the potential to impact our personal and working lives in ways it’s difficult to comprehend.

And 12 months on from the launch of Nudj we are delighted to be launching our Nudj corporate proposition, because we believe Nudj at its core can support businesses in engaging its colleagues, to support the business in delivering its corporate sustainability goals and help them to make positive changes at work and at home.
